- It all began in Autumn ’93 when West Country-born REEF recorded their first demo tape (Purple Tape - under the name Naked) whilst they all were all living in a big house in West London, which was sent to Sony S2, who immediately signed them up and sent them out on the road. The band spent the next 12 months touring the country and honing their fierce and unique brand of blues rock.

- Having played at almost every small venue around the country and with increasing media interest, their demo unexpectedly fell into the hands of Paul Weller. On hearing the tape he invited them to join the tour, which included 3 nights at the Royal Albert Hall. By the end of the Summer of ’94 the band started to record tracks for their debut album, Replenish with Producer Clive Martin, in Cornwall, London and Bath.

- In March of 1995 REEF released their debut single 'Good Feeling' which peaked at No.24 in the charts. This was followed quickly by ”Naked” which charted at No. 11 and ensured their first appearance on Top Of The Pops. On June 19th 'Replenish', REEF’s now Gold debut album was released, charting at No. 9. The band then headed straight back out on the road again at the end of July for some more UK dates, culminating at the LA2 on 2nd August. They also played at Glastonbury, Phoenix, Reading and T In The Park festivals that summer. Just before supporting The Rolling Stones at their secret London gig and Soundgarden on their European Tour in August, REEF’s third single ”Weird” charted at No.18. The rest of ’95 was spent touring the States, Europe and a sold out UK tour, ending at the Astoria on 20th December.

- 1996 began with a tour of Japan and Australia, where REEF’s new album, as yet untitled began life as a set of demo’s recorded in Sydney. The album (GLOW) has now reached Gold status down under. Work continued on the tracks at Abbey Road studios with producer and ex-Def Jam co-founder George Drakoulias, whose credits include The Beastie Boys and Primal Scream. The band finished the album in Royaltone and Sound City studios in Los Angeles in June that year. REEF were also busy on these shores with the winning of Music Industry Soccer Six, where they beat the likes of Oasis and Pulp, and on the live front playing the main stage at Reading Festival. The first fruits of the band’s recording was the single, 'Place Your Hands' which was released on 21st October and stormed the national charts with an entry at number 6.

- In 1997 REEF put out their second single ’Come Back Brighter’ from their much-anticipated second album ’GLOW’ on January 13th. It charted at number 8. ’GLOW’ was released a fortnight later on January 27th and conquered the charts at number 1. It even went Gold in its first week of sale and has gone on to exceed double platinum status, with over a million copies sold worldwide. Reef then released a third single from the album – entitled Consideration on March 24th, it reached number 13. The band toured the UK throughout May, which ended at Brixton Academy on May 12th. REEF released live favourite ”Yer Old” on July 7, which reached No.21. Various festivals were visited throughout the summer including, Phoenix, V97 and headlining the second (sinking in mud) stage at Glastonbury. The Autumn saw the band continuing their assault on America and heading back to Australia and Japan. They celebrated their most successful year with 7,000 of their closest friends at a Christmas show in the Plymouth Pavilions on December 22nd.

- After almost 18 months of touring, ’98 began with a break from life on the road and living in each other’s pockets. By February, though, they started phoning one another again, talking through ideas and songs and in March they put some of these into demo form. In early summer REEF re-located to Los Angeles to rekindle their successful partnership with George Drakoulias. At this point they booked a tour for November, when they were expecting the first fruits from their third album to be released. During the middle to end period of their 3 month stay in LA, the album began to take a rather poor second place to the World Cup and not only the one in France but also the more important one unfolding on the producer’s Playstation! By Autumn it was time to get back into top gear and recording continued apace. Unfortunately the summer’s exertions meant that the first single was not ready in time to meet Sony’s release schedule and December was already filled with Christmas releases. On the other side of the Atlantic however, a strange thing was happening – the dates on their November tour would not stop selling and by the time they returned to these shores the tickets had sold out (all 27,000 of them). The tour went ahead to universal acclaim and the boys went home for Christmas feeling very positive about the new year ahead.

- With everything now in place, REEF release the single ”IVE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY” on March 29th. The band’s third album ”RIDES” follows on April 12th. Beck’s dad helped out with the strings and Rose Stone (Sly’s sister) sang backing vocals. They even swapped instruments on some tracks with Gary and Dom playing guitar and Jack singing a song. A tour was booked for May including a night at the Royal Albert Hall on the 4th and a high profile appearance at one of the major festivals is expected in the Summer.

- Reef released the single 'Set the record straight' and then their 4th album 'Getaway'. Getaway got a good review in most magazines and a UK tour for 2000 was arranged. Unfortunately due to Gary having an emergency operation on his the knee, the tour was put off for a few months. The next single taken from Getaway was 'Superhero', which was released on December the 4th.

- After a short break from the Getaway tour, Reef went back on the road but this time supporting Texas. After the tour Reef released the third and final single from Getaway, "All I Want" on 7th May. Plans were made for new songs for the next album.

- After spending time with their families, Reef got back to writing new material. After showcasing the new songs at several small gigs, the reaction was phenomenal. Plans for the 5th album, 'Together' to be a 'best of' package were announced. The only single to be taken from 'Together' was 'Give Me Your Love', which was planned for release in early 2003, followed by 'Together'.

- Reef released 'Give Me Your Love' followed by the album 'Together' on the 27th of January. A UK tour was announced just before Dominic Greensmith left the band. Nathan Curran took Dom's stool for the UK tour that followed. New song Waster was released on the 16th of June with a live DVD on the 18th of August. August, 15th was to be the last gig Reef played - Headlining Falmouth Regatta Week.
